Destiny Adams joins YouTube in Washington, D.C. for Creator Advocacy Week

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Dallas-based Creative Entrepreneur and Creator Destiny Adams joined YouTube and fellow creators in Washington, D.C. for Creator Advocacy Week 2026, taking part in conversations with lawmakers and industry leaders about the policies shaping the future of the creator economy.

The week included the historic launch of the U.S. Senate Creators Caucus, co-chaired by U.S. Senators Cory Booker and John Kennedy. Adams joined 15 creators for the September 15 gathering, giving creators an opportunity to have a seat at the table and speak directly about the realities of building careers and businesses in the creator economy.

On September 16, Adams joined fellow creators and coalition partners on Capitol Hill to advocate for the NO FAKES Act, bipartisan legislation focused on protecting people's voice and likeness as AI continues to grow. After unanimously advancing out of the Senate Judiciary Committee this summer, creators are now advocating for the bill to be passed.

“One of my biggest concerns with AI is what happens when businesses start using it to cut corners and use a creator’s image or likeness to produce ads without actually hiring or compensating that creator,” said Adams. “I’m especially concerned about smaller creators who may not have the financial resources to fight back when something like this happens. As this technology continues to grow, we need protections that make sure creators have control over how our image, voice and likeness are used.”

Adams also participated in the Congressional Black Caucus Chair's Suite roundtable, “Creators Mean Business: Powering the Creator Economy.” The conversation focused on what the continued growth of the creator economy can mean for Black digital entrepreneurs and creative small businesses, including greater access to federal resources, innovation capital and opportunities to build sustainable businesses.

For Adams, Creator Advocacy Week is another step in expanding her work beyond creating content and into creator education and advocacy, while continuing to help creators understand the business behind the content and bringing the creator perspective into conversations about the future of the industry.
